In 2022, the Kaiser Family Foundation released findings from their KFF Health Care Debt Survey revealing a staggering 100 million Americans, or 41%, grappling with medical debt. This financial burden stands as the foremost cause of bankruptcy in the nation. To manage such debts, 63% of affected individuals are forced to slash their spending on basic necessities such as food and clothing, while nearly half resort to depleting their savings or seeking additional income. The financial strain alone can provoke significant anxiety, which only intensifies when coupled with managing a health condition. These challenges underscore a critical need for support. The Samaritan Fund Foundation is dedicated to alleviating these pressures by providing financial assistance to those burdened by costly medical conditions, aiming to restore peace of mind to those in desperate need.

The Samaritan Fund Foundation has streamlined the process of managing medical expenses through innovative payment solutions. Our beneficiaries receive a Samaritan Fund Program Visa debit card, pre-loaded with funds to specifically cover medical costs such as deductibles, copays, and other medical-related out-of-pocket expenses. This card employs technology akin to an HSA card to ensure funds are used exclusively for medical catastrophes. Additionally, our intuitive mobile app and online portal allow participants to monitor their medical expenditures, enhancing transparency and convenience.
